DRUIWE – GRAPES

Calitzdorp is a quaint little town on route62, nestled in the heart of the klein karoo, Western Cape, Rep. of South Africa. This haven is also known as the port wine capitol of South Africa, due to the quality of the port wines made by the local wine cellars.

This fertile valley was originally a lake. The soil is mainly alluvial and agricultural crops are grown 1 km on either side of the rivers (Nels and Gamka meaning lion in khoi).
Early writings prove that the khoi called Kannaland the valley with no grass.

Ons besoek Gründheim en proe die verskillende soorte liquers waarvoor hulle bekend is en eindig die dag af met heerlike verversings by Eight Bells Country Inn.
