  • The slave tree of George

URBAN LEGEND (MYTH) Its believed that a prison stood on the site of what was previosly the building of the library. Sometimes referred to as the "Slave Tree" because of the old chain embedded in the tree trunk with an old lock attached to it. This was thought to have been used to chain slaves to the tree while they were auctioned off to the highest bidder.

  • Feel the heat!

Stuntman Johan Behr performed at the newly opened Club Oxygen on South Africa’s Heritage Day on September 24, 2010. Present to enjoy the stunts, disco, live band and braai were dozens of school kids from Mossel Bay.

  • Yellowwood tree cracks and falls accross Courtenay Street

As I went to friends at about 14:30 on Sunday 14/11/2010 to watch the Grand Prix, I saw George Municipality personnel hard at work in Courtenay Street.

A Yellowwood tree cracked in half and fell across the broad pavement and three lanes of Courtenay Street. This normally busy street was as quiet as it can only be on a Sunday afternoon. I gathered nobody was injured.

Heritage Day in South Africa Coming Up …. Plant a Tree and Braai!

Heritage Day in South Africa Coming Up …. Plant a Tree and Braai!
by Principal Agent... on 22 September, 2010 - 03:55

See this Video at end of blog: An appeal by Emeritus Archbishop Doctor Desmond Tutu to the citizens of South Africa to braai on Heritage Day (Public Holiday in South Africa) 24 September 2010. It has been a great year for SA. Celebrate it….Please take your Cholesterol Medication!!! (And maybe something for the liver too). Lekker, lekker en lekker!

The tree to plant this year is the Fever Tree. (Koorsboom)

What to braai – meat, meat, meat and chicken for salad. Put lekker biltong on your roosterkoek. And for afters enjoy cheese and droëwors.

Do as the Arch says, braai!!
